In line with the Smart City initiative of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the General Manager, Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, MVAA, Mr. Lateef Lawal has announced the existence of a website through which motorists and law enforcement agencies can henceforth confirm the authenticity and genuineness of number plates issued by the agency.
Lawal said the platform became necessary in order to eradicate the unnecessary harassment of motorists by officials of the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) and other security agencies.
He reiterated that the situation became worrisome and embarrassing to the state government and its clients when incessant reports, calls, Short Message Service, SMS, e-mails and visits from licensees became rampant that vehicles duly registered with Lagos State number plates were being impounded by FRSC and other security officials.
He then advised the general public particularly motorists, FRSC and other security agencies to visit the MVAA’s website on www.lsmvaapvs.org to verify the authenticity and genuineness of number plates issued by the MVAA. MVAA boss explained that “the site is easy to navigate, once logged in, type in the number plate and wait for the confirmation of the details of the vehicle”.
