The General Manager of the board, Mukhtaar Tijani, revealed that the audit would help develop a master plan to improve power supply in Lagos.

Tijani, in a statement on Thursday, explained the master plan as a detailed layout of energy sources, distribution, consumption and management towards the development of a reliable standard of energy.

He noted that the plan required an audit of all facilities to account for energy use and guide investments in the power sector.

“In line with the THEMES agenda of the current administration, energy is a key tool in the rapid socio-economic development of this mega-city with over 20 million people. The proposed energy solutions will establish a new direction of growth.

“This move will ultimately provide government a broad analysis of the energy strength in the state with possible and most important response to management that is in conformity with the growing exigency for reduction in energy levels within our environment,” Tijani added in the statement.

The General Manager said the first phase of the audit involved health care facilities across the five divisions of the state.

He explained that based on the electricity demand of each health care facility, LSEB would develop feasible energy solutions for the success of the facility’s medium and long-term energy needs.

Tijani noted that plans were underway to carry out an energy audit of other government facilities involving the education sector, waste management, water corporation, sports centres, theatres and cinemas, adding that the government was set to provide off-grid electrification that was clean and sustainable.
