The management of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has threatened to deal with its officials for who are found guilty of “circulating unconfirmed damaging reports against the Corps”.
A statement made on behalf of the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, by the spokesman of the Corps, Bisi Kazeem, noted that “the attention of FRSC Management is drawn to a publication of an interview purportedly granted by a newly employed staff of the Corps. In that interview the ‘new staff’ accused Management of extortion during the training period which lasted six months”.
Kazeem’s statement which was made on social media observed that “unfortunately, some of our staff were quick to share materials that have not been analyzed nor evaluated on social media thereby embarrassing the entire system. This habit must stop. Officers and men of the Corps are enjoined to propagate road safety materials that add value to our objectives on social media rather than engaging in misinformation that paints the image of the Corps in bad light.
“For the records, the allegations contained in the so-called interview were baseless and unfounded. The allegations were carefully crafted to denigrate the image of the Corps. It will be recalled that over 4,000 personnel were recruited, trained and fed three times daily for six months in three different training Camps. The training ended successfully with the eventual Passing-Out-Parades of the Cadets/Trainees on 6 July 2019 and the deployment of the new staff to various FRSC formations nationwide”.
“Apparently, due to Management commitment to trainee welfare and physical well-being, there was no single casualty throughout the duration of the training period. It is clear that the successes of the recruitment exercise did not go down well with some mischief makers within the system who have resorted to blackmail Management and staff of FRSC to believe that a ‘new staff’ has the audacity to circulate smear campaigns against FRSC Management on social media.
“Management has diligently noted this trail and has decided that Officers engaged in Pull-Him-Down Syndrome and mudslinging have NO capacity for leadership. Therefore, Intel has been extended to uncover the faceless detractors with a view to profile and document disciplinary proceedings against the culprits”.
It would be recalled that over 30 men of the FRSC were recently arrested at various highways by a combined team of the FRSC, and other government security agencies for alleged extortion.
