The Federal Government has granted the contracts for more than 70 road projects in North-Central, according to the acting Director of Federal Highways, Bola Aganaba.
Speaking to journalists on Friday at Patigi after a two-day inspection of federal roads in Kwara State, Aganaba said 15 out of the road projects were in the state.
He said the projects awarded between 2017 and 2019 were assigned to improve infrastructural development in the country.
He said, “Apart from improving the condition of the roads and giving commuters  a smooth ride on our roads, it is also aimed at providing employment for  the youth and improving the economic wellbeing of the people at the grassroots.”
Aganaba advised the contractors handling the projects to employ more hands to fast-track to enable them to complete work before the commencement of the rainy season.
The Federal Controller of Works in the state, Mr Wasiu Atitebi, said the Federal Government was not owing to any contractors handling road projects in the state.
