Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has announced the closure of the state land borders, with effect from April 10, 2020, in a statewide broadcast on Thursday night.
The closure for the initial two weeks is with the exception of food and essential medical commodities, pending observations on trends of the disease in the state and country.
Similarly, all state civil servants at Grade Level 12 and below are to work from homes for an initial two weeks from March 27, 2020, to April 10, 2020.
These are parts of the outcomes of a three-day stakeholders’ meeting held in the state on ways to check the spread of the coronavirus in the state.
The governor said, “The outbreak of COVID-19 is a global challenge that is affecting all parts of the world. It has so far caused losses in human lives and the economy of all nations, including Nigeria.
The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has disclosed that all routes into Rivers State will be closed to traffic.
Governor, Nyesom Wike gave the order during another statewide broadcast to announce further precautions being taken to prevent an outbreak of Coronavirus in Rivers State.
Affected by this latest restriction are the airports, seaports and roadways into the state.
The governor said no passenger will be allowed into the state from the airport and no vehicle will be allowed to enter or go out of the state and that security agencies have been mandated to enforce the directive.
Governor Wike said the new measures would remain in place until further notice.
The Kaduna State Government on Thursday has also imposed a curfew on the state following non-compliance to certain measures that were earlier put in place to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, made this known via a broadcast to the residents of the state on Thursday.
She stated, “From midnight of Thursday, 26th March 2020, all residents of Kaduna State must stay at home. No offices, businesses of any sort of places of worship are allowed to open.”
The deputy governor, however, clarified that the only category of persons exempted were essential services’ workers such as health, fire service and security personnel.
