The Honorable Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi  Ameachi will be among those slated to be awarded at the prestigious Tourism Transport awards holding in Lagos in July. In an exclusive interview with Transport Day, Chief Abiodun Odusanwo, National President and Chairman Governing Council of the Institute for Tourism Professionals said the award is coming at a time when professionals and critical stake holders who have distinguished themselves in their various endeavours and contribution to the national economy.
According to him, “you cannot separate transportation from tourism, for any tourist to arrive his destination, you need transportation, hence this has given rise for what the Transportation minister has done in improving the sector and adding to the economy in the last three years ought to be recognised” he said.
He noted that while oil brings money, the value chain is not as large as that contained in the tourism sub sector which provides more jobs and employment for the teaming youths of the country.
He hinted that the event will also produce and deliver a communiqué on the national tourism Transport summit Expo which held in Abuja last May.
Other nominees for the awards include, Comrade Kayode Opeifa, Secretary FCTA Transportation, NIMASA, NPA GIGM among others.
It would be recall that the National Tourism Transport Summit and Expo were held in Abuja, with its theme: Tourism and Transportation: the key sectors for Economic Diversification, Sustainable Growth and Development”. where stake holders in tourism and transport sector came together to brainstorm. The event was put together by Institute for Tourism Professionals.
